The Web Accessibility For Visually Impaired People is a phenomenon that you can look at. Over the course of its history, its designers have always focused on making it more accessible to all in society. For this reason, users can access the network despite their physical location, language, software, hardware, and metal capabilities. In this state, the website is considered accessible to people with different abilities, such as hearing, vision and sound (Sean and Liam). To maintain the accessibility threshold, the World Wide Web Consortium has developed standards to be maintained by web designers to serve all members of society, regardless of their shortcomings
At this level, the Web designer is allowed to use HTML with style sheets, such as CSS, to control the layout of pages, size, borders, and fonts among other components (World Wide Web Consortium). Oftentimes, browsers that are supported by text, will look like these stylesheettables and allow you to read them if they are free from errors
This is the last level that has features and details that make web pages more accessible to people with disabilities in society. It is very important to include the text between the links because the readers of the speech cannot see the difference between the two neighboring references. According to the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI), navigation views must be used as they are required to navigate Web sites. This is supported by token support that indicates the location of the user on the Web page (World Wide Web Consortium). In addition, the order and form of links are paramount because they allow a visitor to use the tab key to navigate down the Web page
Tools used by users to access Web content
For many years, people with visual impairation have experienced difficulties in gaining access to printed materials. While most, if not all, relied on Braille, the system was not immediately available, as the information was decoded after some time. The Internet also created a number of shortcomings, as they were unable to access web information, like other people in society. The introduction of a screen magnifier is still important for people who are not completely blind. The application allows the user to increase the size of the material as it moves through the Web page. On the other hand, it is strongly recommended that you use screen readers and self-defrosting features when a user has a high vision. Screen readers are designed to read Web content on behalf of a user. In other words, this application interprets what is graphically represented in the user interface
On the contrary, self-defeating offers help for the visually impaired with an audio recording. Unlike other applications, self-icing ensures that the user hears what he expects. Therefore, it works on the assumption that the web designer understands what the reader is looking for (Alastair, Gareth and Paul). It is important to note that screen readers and standalone applications do not work together. In most cases, the Web user is forced to turn off the screen to use self-defrosting
Guidelines for developing Web applications for visually impaired users
There are a number of recommendations for web designers that need to be implemented to help persons with disabilities gain access to the network without special difficulties. It should be noted that these recommendations are in line with the WAI recommendations as well as the web standards set out in Section 508 of the Web content standards (Dan and Sheryl). The three main classes of these standards are graphical and sound functions, common page design, and accessibility features. The designer is expected to maintain a simple layout of the page on the entire site. It is also strongly recommended that you use a simple background with standard HTML. Above all, the development process should provide sufficient information regarding the accessibility of the page to minimize the problems faced by persons with disabilities
Although visually impaired people cannot view images and graphics, there are manuals that guide users in the graphical and studio components. These are primarily ALT/LONGDESC attributes on the Web page. They also provide a description of the images to improve the accessibility of graphics content. It is very important that web designers can adequately describe videos using headers or transcriptions (Dan and Cheryl)
It is obvious from this analysis that disconnected users encounter difficulties accessing Web pages. However, new technologies helped to close those gaps. To this end, web designers should follow specific guidelines that make these sites more accessible to users with disabilities
